Emily Dickinson Elementary raises nearly $4,000 for Central Asia Institute
Three fifth grade classes at Emily Dickinson Elementary School raised almost $4,000 for the Pennies for Peace organization.
Students presented the check to the Central Asia Institute today. The money raised by the fifth graders will be used to purchase school supplies, pay for teachers’ salaries and help assist with new school construction in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
“I am so impressed,” said fifth grade teacher Rachel Screnar. “We as the fifth grade teachers and the parents and the school community feel so excited that we raised nearly $4,000 just by small efforts and this amount of money is quite an accomplishment.”
Activities to raise the money included selling popcorn, raffle tickets, bracelets and baked goods.
