Children’s outreach is focus of lecture

Greg Mortenson, known for his efforts to educate children in Pakistan and Afghanistan, will be speaking at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Mortenson is founder and executive director of the Montana-based nonprofit organization, Central Asia Institute, which, since 1993, has established or supported 53 schools with an enrollment of more than 20,000 students, including 9,400 girls.

He will speak about his experiences in Pakistan and Afghanistan, where his efforts to support education have received international accolades.

The meeting will begin with dinner in the Fellowship Hall at 6:15 p.m.
